7 Island Tour

The 7 Island Sunset Tour is an extended, afternoon-into-night version of Krabi's classic island-hopping trip — combining snorkeling, sunset views, a beachside BBQ dinner, and (weather and moon phase permitting) a swim among glowing bioluminescent plankton. It's one of the most magical full-day-into-evening experiences in Krabi.

The 7 Islands

Railay Beach / Phra Nang Cave Beach — the first stop, known for its dramatic limestone cliffs, sacred Phra Nang shrine cave, and postcard-famous beach.
Chicken Island (Koh Gai) — named for its chicken-head-shaped rock formation; great for photos and snorkeling around the reef.
Tup Island (Koh Tub) — famous for the sandbar that appears at low tide, connecting it to Chicken Island and Koh Mor (a phenomenon locally called Talay Waek, or "the sea splits").
Koh Mor — a small island right beside Tup, mainly a scenic and photo stop.
Koh Yawasam / Koh Tan Ming — a small rocky islet in front of Koh Poda, known for shallow coral gardens ideal for snorkeling.
Koh Poda — the sunset dinner stop, with a long white-sand beach where the BBQ buffet is served as the sun goes down.
Koh Raeng (or a nearby quiet cove) — the final stop after dark, where the bioluminescent plankton swim takes place.

Timings

Departure: Early-to-mid afternoon, typically pickup around 12:00–1:00 PM, boarding around 12:30–1:45 PM from Nopparat Thara Pier (Ao Nang).
Return: Around 8:00–9:30 PM.
Best time to visit: This is inherently an afternoon-into-evening tour — it's built around catching the sunset over Koh Poda and finishing with the night plankton swim, so there's no "morning" version. High season (November–April) is best: the sea is calmer, underwater visibility is better, and the chance of a clear sunset is much higher. For the plankton specifically, visiting around the new moon phase between November and May gives the best chance of seeing the glow, since the darkest, moonless nights show it off most vividly. Experiences & Highlights

Snorkeling at multiple stops — coral reefs and tropical fish around Chicken Island, Tup Island, and Koh Yawasam.
Sandbar walk (Talay Waek) — walking across the sea between Tup and Chicken Islands at low tide.
Cliff jumping — some operators offer optional jumping/climbing spots along the route for the more adventurous.
Sunset BBQ dinner on Koh Poda — a Thai-style buffet with grilled fish, chicken, and fresh fruit, eaten beachside as the sky turns gold and pink.
Bioluminescent plankton swim — the tour's signature finale: swimming in dark water that glows blue with every movement, from billions of microscopic organisms.
Beach fire show — some tours include a fire-spinning performance on the beach after dinner.

Good to Know

Best season: November–April (high season) for calm seas and clear sunsets; May–October (monsoon) tours still run but the itinerary may change due to weather.
Restrictions: Not recommended for pregnant women or children under 1 year old, given the boat travel and night swimming component.
What to bring: Swimwear and a change of clothes (you will get wet at the plankton stop), a light long-sleeved layer for the cool evening boat ride back, a dry bag for valuables, reef-safe sunscreen, and mosquito repellent for the BBQ dinner.
Good for: Couples, sunset chasers, and anyone wanting a more complete, immersive island experience than the standard half-day 4 Island Tour.
