Safari World
Spread across more than 200 acres on the northern outskirts of Bangkok, Safari World is Southeast Asia's largest open-air zoo — a combination of a drive-through wildlife safari and a full marine entertainment park. It's split into two distinct zones that feel like completely different days out: the Safari Park and the Marine Park.
Timings
Opening hours: Generally 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekends and public holidays. Closed every Monday.
Best time to visit: Morning, right at opening — animals in the Safari Park are more active earlier in the day (especially before the afternoon heat), and arriving early lets you catch the full lineup of Marine Park shows without rushing.
Time needed: A full day — around 6 to 7 hours — is recommended to properly cover both parks. The Safari Park drive-through alone takes 45–60 minutes, and Marine Park shows run continuously from around 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. A half-day visit is possible but means missing several shows.
Safari Park (Drive-Through)
An 8 km reserve where lions, tigers, giraffes, zebras, white rhinos, camels, and antelope roam freely around your vehicle — as close to a real African safari as you'll get without leaving Bangkok.
You can drive your own car through or ride one of the park's coaches.
Giraffe Feeding Terrace — an elevated platform putting you at eye level with the giraffes for hand-feeding; open all day, no show-time pressure (small extra charge on-site).
Marine Park (Walk-Through)
A full entertainment complex with six live shows running throughout the day, plus interactive encounters:
Dolphin Show — the flagship performance, widely considered the park's highlight.
Orangutan Boxing Show — trained orangutans in a playful, crowd-pleasing match.
Sea Lion Show, Elephant Show, Bird Show — showcasing trained animal intelligence and agility.
Hollywood Cowboy Stunt Show / Spy War Action Stunt — an action-packed live stunt performance.
Jungle Cruise / River Safari — a boat ride through jungle-themed scenery with animatronics.
Tree House Aviary — feed free-flying parrots from an elevated platform, one of the most colorful photo moments in the park.
Tiger Cub Feeding & Photo — an optional close-up experience with a young tiger cub (extra charge).
Camp Kangaroo — walk among kangaroos and wallabies.
Good to Know
Location: About 30 km / 45 minutes to 1 hour from central Bangkok by car.
Best season: November to February offers the most comfortable weather and the most active animals; March–May heat often makes big cats drowsy and less visible during the Safari Park drive.
What to bring: Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle — outside water is allowed.
Food: Outside food isn't permitted inside, but the park has multiple restaurants, including international and Indian buffet options.
Good for: Families with kids, first-time Bangkok visitors wanting a wildlife day out, and anyone looking for a break from the city's temples and malls.
